Here we are, the final week in our series on discipleship. We close out talking about the gift of service. God asks us for two big things, love God and love your neighbor. Sometimes loving our neighbor can be the hardest part! Knowing the right thing to do and having compassion for people out there in the world is one thing, but actually DOING something about it can be truly difficult. It requires us to give selflessly of our gifts, time and resources above and beyond what we do at church on Sunday. Let's try to let go of what we want for ourselves, and instead consider what the Lord would do if He were in our shoes. Take care of your brothers and sisters and be blessed!
If you were arrested for being a Christian, would they find enough evidence to convict you? Odd question right! This week we talk about one of the hardest parts about being a Christian in my mind...telling others about it! We are all called to be a light, a witness, to the wonderful things God has done for us so that we can build His kingdom. All said and done, when you bring the message of Christ to another, you are literally saving their lives. Let's hope we all have the courage to proclaim our faith when the Lord puts us in a place where we can help. God bless!
come on, we've all said it..."get up guys we HAVE to go to church this morning!". whats weird about that? think about it this way...you're going to a beautiful sanctuary to celebrate the wonderful reality of everlasting life thanks to the creator of all time and space with your friends and family. come on!!!! seriously what is cooler than that. fact is, a lot of us take our opportunity to be with God on a sunday morning for granted. take a step back, and enjoy the amazing privilege it is to be with the Lord of all.
There are few things we can do in today's fast paced technical world without taking a key first step...read the manual! sure you may be able to get your latest iphone up and running with a glance at the quick start guide, but you can't take full advantage of all its powerful features without taking the time to read the all important instructions.
life is the same way...God gave us His grace, His love, His power...and a manual about how to do it all right! set aside the time, read the Bible, and take full advantage of the fantastic life he has in store for you!
